Alton Community Hospital - Wards
DoctorsThe ward is visited daily by a GP. The consultants visit the ward on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and alternate Fridays. Should you or your relation wish to speak to the doctor you can arrange this via the nurse in charge.
StaffA number of staff will be involved with your care. All staff have an identity badge and will introduce themselves by name and role when meeting you on admission. A named nurse will be allocated to each patient as the lead nurse.
MedicationsAll medication you require on the ward can be given out by the nurse in charge. Please do not take any other medication unless the nurses are aware of what you are taking. You are advised to check with the nursing staff if your medication can be mixed with alcohol, before you drink.ValuablesYou are requested not bring large amounts of money or items of personal value into the hospital. The hospital cannot be responsible for valuables unless they are in the custody of the ward staff.
LaundryPlease make sure all items of clothing are marked with your name. The hospital has a limited laundry service and it is greatly appreciated if arrangements can be made with family or friends to bring cleans clothes in.
HairdresserVisits Mondays, no appointment is needed.SmokingThere is a no smoking policy within the hospital. If you wish to smoke, the staff will take you to a designated area. Do not smoke on the wards; oxygen explodes.
ChaplaincyCommunion is held every Friday at 2:30pm and there is a service held weekly each Sunday at 5:00 pm, the denomination changes weekly.
