Occupational Health

Dr Alison Rickard has a particular interest in occupational medicine and holds the Diploma of Occupational Medicine and is an approved doctor under the Ionising Radiation Regulations.

The Practice is pleased to offer occupational medical services to local companies. Services include:

• Pre-employment medical advice/examination.
• Advice on work-related health problems including stress.
• Advice on long term/repeated sickness absence and medical retirement with examination where appropriate.
• Advice on medical aspects of Health and Safety e.g. noise monitoring/ audiometry/biological monitoring/health surveillance/work related upper limb disorder.
• HGV medicals.
• Annual Ionising Radiation medicals.
• Foreign travel advice/immunisation.
• Regular 'routine' medicals for employees/managers.
• Support and training for First Aiders.
• Treatment of minor injuries sustained at work.

Contracts are negotiated with individual companies, tailored to company requirement and reviewed annually. The services are private and are paid for on either a "fee for item of service" basis (+/- nominal annual retainer fee for 'ad hoc' advice) or by payment of an annual fee to cover all services required for the year. Fees are based on BMA recommended rates but can be negotiated where appropriate.
