Repeat PrescriptionsYour own doctor will decide if the medicine you are taking can be continued without coming back to see them. If not, you will not be able to request a repeat prescription. 1. You can now request your repeat prescription online , first you need to contact the practice to get a pin number and then simply click on the link and follow the instructions. 2.You can also request a repeat by completing the white form attached to your prescription listing your repeat medicines. You should complete this by ticking which medicines you require and returning it to the health centre giving at least two working days notice. We have arrangements with Alton and Four Marks chemist to collect the completed prescriptions so that they can be made up ready for you to collect. If you wish to take advantage of this service you should indicate your chosen chemist on the foot of your form. If you are using the online service their is a white box at the end for you to type in your destination request. Some chemists will deliver prescriptions, but this needs to be discussed with the chemist. Please note to prevent errors occurring we do not take prescriptions over the telephone, We tend to give medicines in 1 or 2 monthly prescriptions. Unused medicines are always disposed of, and giving larger quantities on each script tends to increase the amount of wastage. In our area, prescriptions cost the NHS £14 million per year, of that, £1 million is thrown away. Help us to reduce this awful waste of resources;
Some diseases warrant free prescriptions, the chemist or your doctor will give you the appropriate form to complete. This, with allowances for young (less than 16) and older (over 60) means 80% of scripts are free. For those that still pay, the chemists can sell you a "season ticket" for scripts. £91.80 per year or £33.40 for 4 months, after which all scripts are free. The cost of scripts bares no relationship to the cost of the medicines on them, so don't pay more than you have to. |
