Smoking

Smoking is the major cause of preventable ill health in the western world, responsible for more than 200,000 deaths per year in the UK (heroin only kills 400).

So stop it Immediately Please

Unfortunately nagging isn't a good way to encourage anyone to give up. Even talking of the wasted money doesn't help; (20 cigarettes a day = £2,500 a year; over 20 years that's £50,000!)
The best way to stop, when you have decided you want to, is to go to a stop smoking clinic. Most people find it easier than they think it will be. 65% successfully stop at the first attempt.  We run free, one-to-one, Quit Smoking sessions at the Health Centre.  Simply call reception to book an initial appointment to discuss the help we can offer.  This includes:-

  • prescribed nicotine replacement patches/gum/inhalators and pills;
  • day or evening times;
  • for all ages;

There are also Quit Smoking Groups, including special groups for pregnant women available locally. Phone 0845-602-4663
