Well-Woman ClinicSisters Sue Robinson and Henriette Thoma.
Sister Sue Robinson has undergone extended training to offer
teaching of breast awareness. If you need a smear test, we encourage you to see Sister unless you need a doctor’s appointment for a related matter. She can also provide routine review of contraception & hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Routine smears are recommended from the age of 20 until 65 years: for the under 35s at 3 yearly intervals and for over 35s, at 5 yearly intervals. If a routine smear is abnormal, then the hospital will advise us how soon to repeat the test. Some smears are classed as "inadequate"; that is saying they are not good enough to be sure of the result.. You will be invited to repeat the smear quiet soon. This does not mean you have cancer! In fact cervical cancer is extremely rare now that most people have regular smear tests and we are able to treat the earliest stages, before cancer has really developed.
